Once
again a strong conference programme was put together for Umbrella
2007 and the content of speaker sessions was rated 95%
Good to Excellent by delegates who attended the event last
week in Hatfield.
Inspiring
keynote presentations in plenary sessions were complemented by nine
special topic tracks. These featured special presentations developed
and delivered by CILIP's Special Interest Groups and focussed on
the key issues facing LIS professionals.

Programme
director: Paul Pedley
Paul
Pedley (MA, MLib, FCLIP) is Head of Research at the Economist Intelligence
Unit, and has previously worked in the information departments of
a law firm, a property developer, and a number of government departments.
He is a member of the Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance,
and is on the strategic advisory board of the JISC Legal Information
Service.
A Visiting Professor at the Department of Social Sciences,
London Metropolitan University, Paul regularly runs training courses
on copyright and other legal issues, and is the author of key Facet
Publishing books including Essential Law for Information Professionals
and Managing Digital Rights: a practitioner's guide (editor)
and Facet's first e-book on Digital Copyright .
