Biography
- As Assistant Director - Learning Development at Bradford College
with responsibility for e-learning, libraries, and research, Ronan
has over 20 years' experience of developing learning services in
libraries. In collaboration with Imperial College London, he developed
and delivered an innovative e-learning programme focused on information
literacy. A pioneer in community networking, learning object metadata
and online learning initiatives he has worked as a consultant to
various agencies including the European Union.
Abstract
- The Pop-I Project
: Information Literacy in Public Libraries
The presentation
will provide an outline of the Pop-i project, identify its aims
and objectives and its key audience and deliverables, including
an overview of the issues, problems and solutions encountered at
a strategic, tactical and operational level. Specifically the areas
of focus will include; brokering the partnership, developing the
project plan, agreeing the IL content, choosing the VLE, setting
up the evaluation instrument, managing the project, versioning the
content for a public library audience, the wider definition of IL
in public libraries, using Moodle, overcoming attitudinal barriers,
running the pilot learning programme, gathering feedback, dissemination
and planning future activity.
