Biography - Paul Clough is a Lecturer in Information Management at the University of
Sheffield. He is a member of the Information Retrieval Group and his interests
include accessing multimedia, geographical search, multilingual information
access, designing user interfaces and using language processing in advanced

Abstract - Trends in multimedia retrieval: the professional implications.

This session will cover access to audiovisual content and include: techniques, problems, challenges and current research trends. Practical examples of multimedia browsing and retrieval techniques will be used throughout the talk. The session will conclude by inviting the audience to share thoughts on how technologies presented in the talk could impact the library profession.
