Biography
- After a long career with Shropshire Libraries Pat moved to the
the National Library for the Blind as Library and Information Services
Director. Following the merger with RNIB earlier this year Patis
now Manager, RNIB National Library Service. For many years Pat was
a National Councillor for CILIP and was Chair of Equal Opportunities
and Diversity Panel.Pat is a trustee of the Arvon Creative Writing
Foundation and Chair the John Osborne Centre Management Committee.She
believes that everyone has the right to read what they want, when
they want and in the format that they choose.
Abstract
- "I want some porn"
There are 2 million blind and partially
sighted people in the UK and another million people have a print
disabilty. This means that 5%of the UK population cannot read normal
print yet a staggering 95% of the all the books published in the
UK each year are put into an alternative format. Censorship or not?
