Nigel
Macartney
Biography
- Nigel Macartney is currently Director of Information Services
at the University of Ulster, responsible for library, archive, computing
and reprographic services.
He
was Director of the British Library Research and Innovation Centre
(1995 – 1999) and before that Librarian at the University
of Hertfordshire.
He
is Chair of
the North Eastern Education and Library Board’s Library Committee
and Honorary Treasurer of CILIP.
Abstract
- Establishing a new national agenda for Library and Information
Science research
Nigel Macartney, Director of Information Services, University of
Ulster. A rationale for and account of the work leading up to the
workshop on library and information science research held at the
British Library in November last year. Plans are now under development
to create a new structure for co-ordinating research in the UK with
the aim of meeting the expressed needs of researchers and practitioners
