Biography
- Kanika Nelson is the Senior Library Assistant:
Volunteers for Leicester Libraries. She has worked for the service
since January 2004. Previous to working for libraries, Kanika had
extensive experience of working with voluntary groups, ranging from
women groups and tenants associations, to organising events for
young people and children, parent governors and Saturday schools.
She has many years' experience working with people from a wide range
of backgrounds and nationalities.

- Welcome to Your Library - connecting public libraries
with refugee communities
A
brief overview of Welcome to Your Library and the work of Leicester
Libraries refugee work experience scheme. The session will look
at the reasons for such a scheme and the impacts on the library
service, individuals and communities. The presentation will offer
some practical observations on the key lessons and challenges in
giving work placement opportunities to members of refugee communities.
