Partis
Biography
- John Partis is
Assistant Librarian at Hurstpierpoint College, an independent school
in West Sussex. He divides his time equally between the Senior and
Prep Schools' Learning Resources Centres. He is particularly involved
in the ongoing development of an Information Literacy (IL) Programme.
He is teaching pupils from Year 3 to Year 8, the Library and Information
Skills they will need throughout their time at Hurst and beyond.
John is gradually integrating the IL teaching programme into the
College's VLE. Using the VLE provides a rich learning experience
and fosters independent learning.
Abstract
- "Exploiting VLEs: bringing the library into the
classroom"
This
session will look at examining applications of VLEs in school libraries
: teaching information skills, supporting reading projects, providing
revision aids, promoting reading events, liaising with subject departments
to produce interactive quizzes on the VLE to promote 'academic weeks'.
It will also look at practical ways of incorporating both library
and classroom in the VLE environment.
