Jane Milne  

Biography - Jane Milne has worked as Team Leader at Sighthill Library since 2003. Previously she worked within Edinburgh and East Lothian Library Services, after studying for a PGDip at Strathclyde University in 1999. She has recently been acting as a Divisional Librarian in the West of Edinburgh, where she continues to promote the importance of real engagement with the users of our Library and Council services.

Abstract - Sighthill Library Youth Project Libraries Changes Lives Award Winner 2006 - 'One Year On - Building on Success for a Sustainable Future'

This presentation will illustrate how the staff team at Sighthill Library, together with a number of key partners, tackled challenging behaviour from young people by adopting an inclusive and ground-breaking approach to working with excluded children and teenagers in the library setting. It will cover some of the innovative diversionary projects and behavioural management techniques, which won the team the LCL Award 2006 and how these projects have been developed over the past 12 months.
